A brass gate valve 125 uses a flat or wedge-shaped disc, known as a gate, to control the flow of liquid or gas in a pipe or tube. The gate is typically held in place by a threaded stem connected to a handle or wheel. Turning the handle moves the gate up or down, either opening or closing the valve.
