EMT Conduit Lock Nut connect rigid conduits, such as Intermediate Metal Conduits (IMC) and Rigid Metal Conduits (RMC), to electric boxes. They are also part of a connector assembly paired with different electrical conduits. They are used on the threaded end of the conduit, with six or more teeth that tightly secure the conduit against the electric box for proper grounding.
EMT Conduit Lock Nut
Conduit locknuts for securing threaded conduit or connectors with tapered or straight thread, to a knockout or unthreaded slip hole. Use: Used with bushings to bond threaded rigid conduit and IMC to boxes, cabinets or other enclosures where locknut is exposed.
Lock nuts commonly come with a zinc coating, but various materials, such as aluminum and stainless steel, may be used depending on application. The diameter of the lock nut should match the size of the threaded conduit or connector and should be tightened with a lock nut wrench, screwdriver, or pliers for a secure ground connection.
